Is Mishon From Lincoln Heights Next?

Will Smith was on of the best to do it. Drake has been going hard as of late. Making the transition from television to music isn’t a new concept. Going back to the sixties with the Partridge Family and David Cassidy, T.V. has been a platform used by many to make a jump into music.
16 year old Mishon looks to be the next one in line. The star of ABC Family’s “Lincoln Heights” Mishon has been singing and performing since he was 9 years. His love of music was put on the back burner temporarily while he played his role as Tay Sutton on “Lincoln Heights” The success of the show and his popularity has made him a hot commodity in the entertainment business. So it’s only natural that he showcase the rest of his talents to the world.
His single “Just a Kiss” is already building a buzz for the young man. His Interscope Records debut “The Yearbook” has all the makings of a hit.
WOTS caught Mishon at Strike City in Charlotte North Carolina where he was having a listening party for his fans to talk about his single, his life in music and what Michael Jackson means to him.
WOTS: How did you get into music?
Mishon: I started out at 9 years old. I was signed to an independent label called Dynasty Records. I’ve been doing this for 7 years now. It’s been wonderful. I was in the studio recording music and doing performances. That’s when I found out that I really had a love for it
WOTS: Who were some of you influences musically?
Mishon: Michael Jackson is one the biggest inspirations. I loved the way that he captivated people with his music and his performance. Other than that, I just loved music.
WOTS: I just saw the video for “Just A Kiss” what’s the concept behind the song.
Mishon: The concept behind “Just A Kiss” is saying to all those girls and all my peers who think that they have to do more than they really have to do. Maybe its just a game that I like to play, come play with me.
WOTS: Considering some of the music that’s aimed at teens, “Just A Kiss” seems like a great concept. Do you think that the message will resonate among your peers?
Mishon: I don’t think its going to be hard to portray the message in this song for people who like great music. it’s a good song and it makes you feel good anyway.
WOTS: Are we gonna hear an album from you soon?
Mishon: My album is going to be dope. I worked with a bunch of great writers and producers. Its called “The Yearbook” I don’t have a date soon. Hit me on myspace or twitter and I’ll give you the details.

Swazy Baby should be commended. While other up and coming artists are busy trying to bury their underground past, Swazy Baby continues to capitalize on his. And why not? It was using mixtapes as a way to build his buzz up intially, Swazy caught the eye of Bigga Rankin.
Clicking up with B-Rich and TJ Chapman, B.o.B was able to turn his underground success into a deal with Atlantic Records. After a slew of critically acclaimed mixtapes, cross-country tours and commercial placements B.o.B still has that spark in his eyes and energy in his voice that he did when I first saw him on stage.
The 90’s was great era for hip-hop but it was equally great for R&B. Many acts have come and go since then, but the foursome of Jagged Edge has seemed to have staying power. Since their dropping their debut single "The Way That You Talk" back in 1997, JE has been a regular site on the R&B scene.
C-Ride is used to the spotlight, even if you’re not used to his name yet. The Florida representor has been a staple of the Epidemic Music/Polo Grounds team for years now. After making a name for himself on the underground, he’s ready to make his presence known in the mainstream.
"I aint never left the scene! I’m always grinding." Bold words like that are normally served for underground artists still trying to get their buzz up. You wouldn't expect an artists who has signed to major deals, posted hit records and has sold units to still speak about grinding it out. But Yo Gotti isn't the average artist
