Album Review: Wale – Attention Deficit 4 Out Of 5 Stars
By Nailzbuck50

DC Native Wale did what most people thought he may not be able to do which was make a great album. I think the stores not having Wale’s album is a little bit of a sabotage. Isn’t he signed to Interscope? What’s up with their distribution game. Contrary to what most labels think not everything sells digital if it’s a good album. Check out the review below.
Wale
Attention Deficit
All I Do/Interscope
Guest Appearances-Bun B, Lady Gaga, Pharell, Jasmine Sullivan, and Gucci Mane (Yeah, you read it right, Gucci Mane)
Rating- 4.0 out of 5
Standout Tracks-Mama Told Me, Mirrors, World Tour, Diary
Wale is the most versatile artist I’ve heard in years. Throw him in with a proven emcee like Bun B, and he matches him line for line. Pair him with Marsha Ambrosious from Floetry….no problem. Link him with….skip all that shit. The dude is a great emcee hands down. The Attention Deficit album is one of the most diverse, well rounded albums to come out this year. It seems to me as if they really took the most time possible to put it together, and actually got features that paired well with him, and not for the sake of just having a feature.
“Mama Told Me”, a horn laced track with tom rolls and crisp hi hat rides the beat spitting the truth: ” As much as I wanted to be miniscule the fact is they’d only be happy with a menstril actor”
The Mark Ronson produced “Mirror” has the rookie riding shotgun with the elder statesman Bun B riding on the folks who can’t dare to look at themselves and see the flaws they have. They both hold their own and I’ll say this one was a tie, but I’d love to see what an entire album would sound like with them paired.
A couple other bangers are “Shades”, “Contemplate”, and the Jasmine Sullivan assisted “World Tour” is defintely single ready with piano chords and live bass makes this track knock.
One of the closer cuts “Diary” featuring Marsha Ambrosious with pizzcatto strings and bells is perfectly in the sequencing of this album. Wale saves the best for last elaborating about the cause and effects of relationships.
Overall I can’t say anything bad about this album. Nothing was out of place. No song sounded forced, or seemed like an A&R was like “yo this would be a real big song” I really think this dude will be on top of the game in a few years. It’s a bold statement, but judging from this album…..it’s not hard to believe.

Swazy Baby should be commended. While other up and coming artists are busy trying to bury their underground past, Swazy Baby continues to capitalize on his. And why not? It was using mixtapes as a way to build his buzz up intially, Swazy caught the eye of Bigga Rankin.
Clicking up with B-Rich and TJ Chapman, B.o.B was able to turn his underground success into a deal with Atlantic Records. After a slew of critically acclaimed mixtapes, cross-country tours and commercial placements B.o.B still has that spark in his eyes and energy in his voice that he did when I first saw him on stage.
The 90’s was great era for hip-hop but it was equally great for R&B. Many acts have come and go since then, but the foursome of Jagged Edge has seemed to have staying power. Since their dropping their debut single "The Way That You Talk" back in 1997, JE has been a regular site on the R&B scene.
C-Ride is used to the spotlight, even if you’re not used to his name yet. The Florida representor has been a staple of the Epidemic Music/Polo Grounds team for years now. After making a name for himself on the underground, he’s ready to make his presence known in the mainstream.
"I aint never left the scene! I’m always grinding." Bold words like that are normally served for underground artists still trying to get their buzz up. You wouldn't expect an artists who has signed to major deals, posted hit records and has sold units to still speak about grinding it out. But Yo Gotti isn't the average artist
