Motown rapper/producer and Slum Village associate Black Milk brings his highly-acclaimed brand of hip hop to Atlanta on September 22. On the heels of his 2008 album Tronic – which featured DJ Premier, M.O.P and Dwele and made top 10 lists of critics around the country — Milk comes to Lenny’s (486 Decatur Street SE) on September 22. Doors are at 9 pm, and tickets are $15 at the door.

Also on the bill is Atlanta emcee Gotta Be Karim (www.myspace.com/gottabekarim), whose recent digital album 10,000 Apples was praised by Creative Loafing as “energizing and intelligent” and described by The Smoking Section as the “exemplification of the Hip-Hop movement down to its core.” Karim was born and bred in St. Louis, where he met rapper/ producer Black Spade, who is also on the bill. Pitchfork called Spade’s 2008 Om Records debut To Serve With Love – which also featured Karim — “that rare future-sounding, cohesive rap album that doesn’t really feel like much else out there.”

Rounding out the bill is St. Louis emcee Vandalyzm – who appears on 9th Wonder’s album Dream Merchant, Volume 2 with Royce da 5′9” and was the subject of a 2008 Riverfront Times cover story – and Atlanta favorites Hollyweerd, who have been praised by Urb and are responsible for hits like “Have You Ever Made Love to a Weirdo.”
