With the hip-hop world still in an uproar over Jay-Z’s D.O.A. It seems like a microscope has been put on many of the industry’s top stars to see who’s real and who’s fake.

One person who would pass the litmus test with flying colors would be Dj Hollywood Bay Bay. The Shreveport Louisiana native is more than just a radio Dj or club personality, he’s a real champion for independent artist. Helping break artists like Hurricane Chris, GS Boyz and more, Bay Bay knows who the next big thing is.

Respected and love by many throughout the industry, Bay Bay was thrown into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons last August when he was accused of rape.

As you read this today, DNA evidence clears Hollywood Bay Bay as a suspect, but charges have yet to be dropped. and he’s back to doing what he does best, breaking records.

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay talked to wordonthestreetsmag.com about his track record, haters and the trial.

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: Aight. For those who don’t know, who is Dj Hollywood Bay Bay?

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: Bay Bay a.k.a The Ambassador b.k.a Mr.I-20 p.k.a aka Mr. A Bay Bay and If you really want Know I’m not just a Dj I’m an emcee that has a Dj sort a like Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince But I Can push buttons too. (laughs)

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: Talk about some of the records that you’ve broken.

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: Well of course the world knows The Hurricane Chris project was spear headed by Me, Lil Josh and Earnest from Baton Rouge with the Hot Single “Jigga Juice” The GS Boyz with the “Stanky Leg” and Dorrough Music with “Walk that Walk” and “Ice Cream Paint Jobs”

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: Some Dj’s get shouted out by artists, but few have a song made in honor of them. How did you meet Hurricane Chris and how did the song come about.

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: I Met the little homie through my other little homie 3 Feet.3 Feet was my Radio Producer for a number of Years at WKBT in Shreveport La. So after Breakin and Pushin a lot of Mainstream Artist 3 feet was like Big homie u need to take a look at some local talent and he at that time was working with this artist Name Hurricane and he called in a favor to me for him.

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: Two songs that you’ve broken, “Stanky Leg” and “A Bay Bay” were bg hits, but they’ve been heavily criticized as well. Does criticism of those songs effect you in any way?

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: Not at all! With Hurricane I can honestly say that the world has yet to really hear the true talent that he posses. And the Gs Boyz Doing the Stanky Leg is a Classic Dance that even your grand daddy is doing.

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: Do you feel like Dj’s like yourself are the new A&R’s?

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: Not the new A&R’s but A&R’s period! A good Dj knows what’s hot and what’s going to move the people. Dj’s can tell you what’s going to sell because the people come to them and ask for it.

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: Some break some news right now. Who should we be on the look out for next in your opinion?

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: I got the inside scoop on a lot of Louisiana and Texas Talent that hadn’t been tapped into yet. There are a lot, but Big Poppa, K.P Mr.E, Big Chief, T-n-T, T-Willz, Cash, and the list goes on.

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: So, what can we expect from Dj Hollywood Bay Bay?

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: Well I’m secretly putting an album together with a lot of artist Mainstream and Underground artist that just haven’t gotten the exposure yet. It’s going be hot! And you going to see me in a lot of cameo’s in video’s with artist that I’ve worked with and inspired and continuing to represent who Bay Bay.

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: You seem to have your ear to the streets and respect inside the industry. Is starting your own label the next logical move?

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: Yeah I Thought about it but I rather be the instrument that’s used to blow these unknown talents to the next level and stick to the Dj and Mc’in side of the music business!

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: Can you talk about the case any or any of the charges? I heard you were found no guilty of all charges.

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: I have not been exonerated. As a matter fact the charges have not been dropped against me, I’m not sure what they are waiting on. I am very pleased that we finally got the results back because I knew they would clear up any doubts about my innocence. I respect and love all women and would never do what I was accused of.

Wordonthestreetsmag.com: Do you feel like the police and the D.A. were overly aggressive with dealing with you as a suspect?

Dj Hollywood Bay Bay: I think they were doing what they “thought” to be right. I wish the DNA test would’ve come sooner, and that the results released a lot earlier than now. More importantly I think that with no physical evidence tying me to the case all of the charges against me should be dropped, that in my opinion would be the only fair thing to do.
